I was awakened by voices outside my room. The room was dark and the bed linen was wet with perspiration. How long have I slept?

Slowly my eyes adjusted to the darkness; I reached for the bedside lamp. The room had a musky smell. I already had my shorts on so did I have a wet dream?

As I entered the hall, I was greeted by the 'whole family'; looks like everybody was here, except for Nadia. I excited scanned the area for her, eager to confirm whether what I experienced was actually a figment of my imagination?

"What are you looking for?" my wife asked.

"Nothing," I answered hurriedly, "I had a bad dream, that's all."

"Bad dream or wet dream?" Nadia's voice rang out. There she was, in a black blazer covering what seemed to be a pink-lace long-sleeved blouse. She gave me a 'dirty' look, "Abang, what's wrong with you? You look like you just came back from war."

"Maybe I did," I replied, trying to fish, "it was a long and tiring war; my opponent was highly skilled so I had to give it all I got."

"Then maybe your opponent 'pang chance' or you are clearly unfit." she cut me off haughtily.

I was taken aback. Her sudden change in tone had caught me unawares. Then I noticed a glint in her eye, as if to tell me she 'knew' something. So did we or did we not?

Regaining my composure, I asked Wanda to pour our guests the Barley water that she cooked but her answer took me by surprise, "What Barley water? I together them outside." Wanda replied.

My wife also came to Wanda's 'defense'. Apparently all of them were out buying items for their overseas trip and I was the only person at home.

"I think you have too much unwanted, unhealthy pressure inside your system. Better release some soon so that you may be healthy again." Nadia said. She laughed heartily.

I suddenly had a feeling of déjà vu. Didn't Nadia say those same words just hours ago? I shook my head. I really think I needed to sleep things off.

The first thing I did when I got up was to count the number of high blood pressure pills I had in the the medicine cabinet. Based on the last count, I had indeed taken popped in some pills the night before. I instructed Wanda to cook some Barley water as I felt 'heaty'. In actual fact, I just wanted to see what her reaction was. Wanda just nodded and went about doing her things. Before she left, her eyes darted from the hall to the study room, signalling to me that my wife and son were at home. I nodded in acknowledgement.

The door bell rang. Who could it be this early, I wondered? Before Wanda could get the door, the door bell rang a few more times, as if to emphasize a sense of urgency.

Wanda opened the door and unlocked the metal gate. But before she could do anything, our visitor 'pushed' her way in. As if to do a 'tada' moment, Nadia made a slight curtsy.



"Tada!" she exclaimed, "All packed and ready to go!"

"Now?" I asked, sounding a bit stupid as I was truly unaware of the plans that the sisters have made. And, after last night, I wondered if I have unintentionally teleported into an episode of 'The Twilight Zone'?

"I see that you are still in a world of your own, Serfly." Nadia said sarcastically.

The door to the Study Room opened and both my wife and on emerged, dressed to the nines. "We are ready! Ready Player One!" my son shouted enthusiastically.

"So can we 'bother' you to send us to the Ferry Terminal?" Nadia asked, "Or do you have something more important to do?"

"Aiya, he can send us lah," my wife answered for me, "it's not as if he's as busy as your husband." Nadia's husband was obviously 'busier' than I was.

I cleared my throat, "I don't think all of you can fit into my small car." I said in earnest.

As if she read my mind, Nadia quickly countered, "Annie and Sophie will meet us there. It's only going to be the 3 of us."

For some reason (unknown to me), they were going to take a ferry to Indonesia and then from there, take a domestic flight to Yogyakarta.

As I loaded the luggage into the trunk of my car, I was surprised that my wife and son took the back seat while Nadia took the front passenger seat; usually my son would prefer to 'ride shotgun' and sit in front. Perhaps he just wanted to sit behind so that he could play his games?

The drive to the Ferry Terminal was an uneventful one. In fact, the ride was so smooth that no sooner had we hit the highway, I heard light snores coming from the back; both my wife and son had fallen asleep. As the car shifted to overdrive, I felt Nadia place her hand on my thigh.

"Enjoy your freedom, Abang." she said before giving me a smirk.

I stumbled on this thread by sheer chance but am glued to the developments nonetheless. The story development is like a mega-serial and all the different characters are interesting to the say the least in their own right. Wah this is a good yarn and I can't wait for the next twist in the tale......:D
