i think there is no hard and fast rule. some puying dont like thai guys.so if you converse in thai, it may turn her off. while others prefer english speaking foreigners.
for me at least, starting the conversation in thai and then proceeding to converse in english works best so far. anyhow, my thai is just nid noy ...i always tell them that.
