These are two actual stories that haunted me even till today. One past. One present.


THE PROMISE PART 1
We were childhood friends. She was the elegant and charismatic girl. How did all this started? I was an average student in the 'Extended' classes. And I had a buddy of 4 and we were like sworn brothers.

Weird suddenly my buddies were saying "I gonna woo her." I was blank. How could 3 of them like the same girl? Weirdoes they were but I thought I'll join in since I loved challenges.

It was something I couldn't accept. How could this happen? Why did she lie to me. I was devastated. I hung up the phone and hid in the underside of the blankets.

Picked up the phone and dialed.

We chatted about everything except about the relationship. Then suddenly something blurped from my itchy mouth.

Me: DG, if by 21 you are still not attached, I will marry you.

Happily both of us hung up the phone.

Years passed and I lost her number again. And again one day out of no where popped a piece of paper with her number.

And we talked again. I was still single and I did not ask if she was attached.

At age 25 I was attached. And facebook came along. There were pictures of my gf and I together.

One day suddenly I got a message from someone.

When I clicked on the message, what I saw threw me back.

DG: Max, didn't you promise me if we were still single you will marry me?

I stared at my screen. Rubbed my eyes, slapped my face, pinched my cheeks. I was not dreaming.

*Fuck. I thought I was the only guy in the world who would only remember what I said. She remembered everything till now?*

I replied.

Me: DG, I've never forgotten the promise. But I didn't hear from you for the longest time. I thought you have clean forgotten about it.

DG: Who says? I still kept your promise in my heart. I don't care. Meet me at the first place we first held hands today evening. Don't be late. I see you there. Hmmph!

Me: Darn. *I'm meeting my gf for dinner. No choice got to chu pattern liao*

Rushed down to the place where I first went patoh with DG. *My memory on these things were darn good.*

There she was at the shelter of the garden, wearing a nice pink dress with streaks of laces at the sides. Her hair was let down and she had minimal makeup. Her quiet beauty never failed to lure me to her. She was still as charming as ever. And everytime I think of her, she would take my breath away.

Me: Hi DG.

She turned and hugged me.

DG: Why didn't you wait for me? I was only away for my studies and when I'm back you are with another girl? You know how hurt I am? What am I to do now? Tell me Max. What am I to do? I don't care what you say. You will accompany me today and tomorrow night. You will have to take responsibility for your words. There's no turning back now. Hmmph!
