Our community shield opponents will be Crystal Palace after they defeated Man City in the FA Cup. First major cup victory in their club history. Probably will do a bus parade.

Newcastle won the league cup. First cup victory in 70 years. Did a bus parade.

Tottenham (17th placed) meets Man U (16th placed) in the Europa League final. If Spurs win, a bus parade will probably take place.

If Man U win, I wonder if they will celebrate it. This is their first season without consecutive wins in the league. Never win 2 matches in the row for the first time since 1878... yes never happened before in their 147 year history and yet they may still qualify for the Champions League next season

The 36 teams will be divided into four pots of nine. Pot 1 will have the titleholders of the UCL and the eight clubs with the best coefficients. That means the champions of the top domestic leagues and the UEL titleholders will no longer be prioritised for Pot 1. Pots 2 to 4 are ordered on club coefficient.

Each club will be drawn to play two teams from each pot -- one home, one away. So, unlike in the current format, a club in Pot 1 will play a game against two other clubs from Pot 1.

As a general rule, clubs from the same association will not be drawn against each other. However, to avoid deadlocking, the leagues with four or more clubs could play one match against another team from the same country.

This means we may be playing away matches in the CL next season without leaving England. Less fatigue. We better do our transfers early because once CL qualification is confirmed, teams have more budget to improve their squads and therefore enter into a bidding war.

If we actually sign Florian Wirtz then i think this will be a big statement with regards our defence of the PL title next season as Wirtz is clearly a creative world class footballer.

But i think it is still a long shot as i gather Wirtz would rather stay on in Germany.

Unfortunately, Bayern Munich still seem favs to sign him

On the clubs fighting to be in the Champions League next season, Pep Guardiola said: "Newcastle won the Carabao Cup, Liverpool won the Premier League and Manchester City won the Community Shield. The other teams didn't win anything..."

So it seems like the great Pep Guardiola has suddenly placed the Charity Shield as a 'serious' trophy
